Munroe Lake
Fly-In Fishing in Canada
An Unforgettable Canadian Fly-in Fishing Experience
You’re in for some of the best fly-in fishing Canada has to offer. Thanks to our remote location in Northern Manitoba, the waters of Munroe Lake remain virtually untouched by humans. When you arrive, you’ll be greeted by rugged Canadian wilderness, crystal clear lakes, picturesque rivers, and all sorts of wildlife.
The remote lakes around our fly-in fishing outposts are teeming with fish—and you can find all kinds of exciting species here. We’re located right where taiga meets tundra, so you can catch everything from Northern Pike to Arctic Grayling.
No matter which species of fish you’re angling for, you’re in for the adventure of a lifetime. Some of our guests have even caught trophy fish at our lodge—it’s an unforgettable fly-in fishing experience!
Fishing Outpost Options
If you’re looking to experience a once-in-a-lifetime fly-in fishing adventure launched from accommodations on your own private lake, consider booking one of our two Fishing Outposts at Greening Lake or Brownstone Lake. Both locations are world-class hotspots for Northern Pike, Lake Trout, and Arctic Grayling, so take your pick, gather your buddies, and escape to a reality where trophy fishing dreams take flight.
Offering a more flexible alternative to main lodge accommodations, each of our Fishing Outposts sleeps up to six people in a stunning setting near the water’s edge. Outpost guests are responsible for purchasing and bringing their own food/drinks and planning their own meals, while Munroe Lake Lodge still supplies the boats, gas, and motors. Propane is also provided to ensure a comfortable stay in Manitoba’s northern wilderness.

Our Fishing Species
We’ve got some of the best fishing in Canada. As part of your fly-in fishing trip, you’ll get the opportunity to fish for three exciting species: Lake Trout, Northern Pike, Walleye and Arctic Grayling.
Lake Trout
There are so many Lake Trout in our waters that you can practically reach out and grab them with your hands—no fishing line required! The Lake Trout in our rivers and lakes are feisty hunters, and that makes for some great fishing—you’ll have lots of fun catching dozens of lake Trout over the course of your fly-in fishing trip.
Northern Pike
We love a good fight—and here at Lake Munroe, that’s just what Northern Pike provide. The Northern Pike near our fly-in fishing lodge are huge, and when there’s an opportunity to feed, they’re not shy. We’ve caught Pike with almost any bait you can imagine—just be sure to tie a fluorocarbon leader to your line, or these big ambush predators might bite off more than you’d expect.
Arctic Grayling
Want to do some fly fishing during your fly-in fishing trip? Arctic Grayling are the perfect fish for you. We’ve had a world-record Arctic Grayling caught right here on Munroe Lake.
Arctic Grayling are beautiful fish—iridescent scales, gorgeous fins, and some exquisite markings. They’re a great option for beginners and pros alike, and if you love fly fishing, you’re in for an exciting time.
Walleye
Here in Manitoba, we call them pickerel - but no matter what name you call them by, walleye are a blast to fish for - and a delight to eat! We recommend catching them using live baits - minnows work best.
Our lakes are full of walleye - they like to hang out in deeper waters, and they can be a bit finicky, which makes them an excellent target for seasoned anglers looking for a bit of a challenge - and for a tasty supper.

Depending on weather you could head down to the south end of Munroe Lake to fish for Arctic Grayling in the Greening River or try out some spots in and around McKinnon Bay for some trophy Northern Pike or Lake Trout. You could decide to stay on the East side and try your luck on some of the beaches, weed beds, and rock piles, including the beautiful and inspiring Thomas Bay.
-
One day you might decide to stay on the West side, exploring Brownstone River, or Pike Bay. If you decide not to wander too far from the main lodge, you could concentrate on many of the nearby hot spots such as
-
Gull Rock,
-
1st or 2nd Narrows,
-
M+M Bay,
-
2 north rivers,

Thumb Bay,
